MLIS, Are You Kidding Me?

graphic design artist

After thirteen years in the classroom, I never envisioned a shift toward Library and Information Science (LIS). Yet, just two weeks ago, I submitted the final piece of my ePortfolio, culminating a journey that commenced five years ago.

This endeavor has radically reshaped my perception of library science, debunking the archetypal image of librarians confined to the stacks of public libraries. My studies at San Jose State University opened a portal to a realm of intriguing subjects that captured my imagination and fueled my passion. From information literacy and instructional design to computer coding and graphic design, each course broadened my horizons and challenged my preconceptions.

This journey has not only expanded my knowledge but has also profoundly enriched my understanding of communication dynamics. Observing the intricacies of how information is sought and shared has been enlightening. This insight ignited my ambition to create a blogging platform where I can share my experiences and insights. Committed to the LIS field, I am eager to continue my exploration, deepen my knowledge, and further my expertise. I also look forward to sharing some of the works I’ve created, which I hold in high regard.

Do I have any regrets? Absolutely not! Every moment of this journey has been invaluable, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this dynamic field.
